Hmmmm…..
This is interesting…
vs.
I dont know the guy who made the first set of work pictured, so I wont speak to his character. But this is suspiciously similar to a certain awesome potter who lives in a certain awesome church-house in upstate New York. I’d like to think he was a student who was influenced a little too much by a workshop or class, but who knows. I’m not one to slam a fellow artist. People make what they make, and no one owns the ‘white-glaze-on-terracotta’ look, but this is truly a bit to close to be respected as an independent artist’s independent work. At the very least, these should not really be brought around the country, sold at craft shows. To the uninitiated or casual buyer, they are clearly indistinguishable, which leaves various legal issues and questions of infringement.
